The Altstadt Vienna is a small, private 4-star hotel with 42 non-smoking rooms and suites in a renovated historical building in the Spittelberg quarter, only a few steps from the major museums and the Ringstrasse.
The English-style Red Salon serves a superb breakfast buffet and a bar where our guests can relax on comfortable sofas next to the open fireplace. In the afternoon we serve complimentary tea and cake for our guests. All rooms and suites are individually decorated, presenting an excellent blend of modern conveniences and traditional Viennese style. Individual attention and first-class service is of the utmost importance to us.
The Mariahilfer Strasse, Vienna’s most popular shopping street, is only 5 minutes away. Spittelberg is a popular, trendy district with many restaurants, shops and cultural activities.
The hotel is situated in a surprisingly quiet area, only a 5-minute walk from the next underground station. You can reach the world-famous Ringstrasse and the Museum Quarter in only 5 to 10 minutes.
Vienna's largest shopping street - the Mariahilfer Strasse - and a variety of restaurants are also within walking distance of the hotel.
Rooms
The hotel’s 42 rooms and suites, part of a grand Viennese apartment block, are spread out across 5 floors and are all individually decorated. They are stylish, large and comfortable, decorated in classic and chic colours with exclusive light fixtures, highest quality furnishings, luxurious materials and textiles.
In 2006 renowned Italian architect Matteo Thun redesigned 9 extraordinary rooms, choosing a “belle époque” elegance that reflects an excitingly modern design with a reference to Vienna's splendid historical past. Here dark colours dominate the interiors, underlined by crystal chandeliers and furnishings of superb quality.

Suite
Suite Our suites are very spacious and individually furnished. The Otto Suite comes with a rooftop terrace, the Boesendorfer Suite with an original grand piano, and the Suite privée with 2 separate bedrooms and a wonderful view to St. Stephen's Cathedral.

Single Room
Single Room The hotel's only single room is small, but very cosy. It features a large bed (1.2 x 2 metres) and a flat screen TV.

Dining
Enjoy our wonderful breakfast buffet in the red salon, where we also offer complimentary tea and cake in front of the open fireplace. At night you can relax and enjoy a drink at our bar. A variety of wonderful restaurants can be found literally around the corner in the Spittelberg quarter.
Services
We can organise a pick-up service from the airport for you (at an additional cost). Please let us know your departure destination, your arrival time and date as well as your flight number.
By public transport:
Every 20 to 30 minutes there are buses, trains (S7) or the CAT (City Airport Train) leaving to the City Air Terminal "Wien-Mitte" and taking between 16 (CAT) and 30 minutes. From "Wien-Mitte" take the underground line U3 (direction "Ottakring") to "Volkstheater". Take the exit "Burggasse" and follow "Burggasse" for about 5 to 7 minutes. After the second traffic light, turn right into "Kirchengasse". You can find us easily because of our red canopy (on the left-hand side of the street).
