Hotel Congress was built in 1900 as the Hotel Riva.It already housed guests at the time of the Emperor Franz Joseph who travelled to Vienna by train coming from the south of Europe for all sorts of reasons. One of the guests was Franz Kafka who met Milena here in 1917 ("Letters to Milena")
The centrally located and comfortable Hotel Congress is situated opposite the Southern Train Station.
The hotel offers a typically cosy Austrian atmosphere, combined with a Viennese ambience of music and culture. Because of the atmospere and the location of the Congress, it is suitable for business travellers as well as tourists.
Rooms
The 3-star Hotel Congress offers 75 confortable rooms(12 single rooms, 50 double rooms, 10 three-bed rooms with shower and bath, 3 apartments with bath/WC, living-room with kitchinette for 1 to 4 persons) . Although all rooms and facilities are technically up-to-date, the Jugendstil/Art Nouveau atmosphere has been preserved.
Dining
In the "Jugendstil" restaurant the Buffet-breakfast is served and for tourist parties various menus are being offered, while á la carte kitchen is not maintained. In the hotel bar you can be served drink, soft drinks or hot beverages around the clock.
