The 16-storied hotel complex "Karelia" is located near Polustrovski park. A favorable ecological decor, quiet environment, absence of noise. Built in 1979, the Hotel "Karelia" formed part of the network of hotels belonging to VAO Intourist and intended for foreign and Soviet tourists alike. At one time or another the hotel has been host to ice hockey teams, skiers, chess players, sleigh and downhill skiing teams and during the 1980 Olympics many tourists who came to watch the Games also stayed at the "Karelia".
